Where will my session take place?

In the beautiful outdoors! We are so fortunate to live and work somewhere with dramatic backdrops in nearly every direction. Once your session is booked, I will send you a link to my location guide so you can see what different locations in the area look like - from urban to natural settings. During our pre-session consultation, we'll discuss the look you're after and settle on the perfect location.

What should I wear for my session?

It’s important that your look matches the image you’re trying to convey. What you wear on a daily basis is a great place to start. Solid colors are always a good choice, as are tops with strong collars and necklines. I suggest wearing clothing that compliments your skin and eye tones and it’s best to stay away from bold prints. It's important for your entire outfit to be professional as you may want a shot or two that is taken further away and incorporates more of your body.

Should I smile in my headshots?

Confidence and approachability are key factors in your headshot. For most audiences, a smile conveys friendliness and may be the best look. Not smiling will give your portrait a more serious tone.

Can we take some photos that represent my personal brand?

Absolutely! Think about some of the characteristics that embody your personal brand. Are you a chef, an educator, a writer? Write down some keywords and phrases. If there are certain props that could help tell your story, bring them along to your session too. If you’re going to be using your headshot on a specific social media platform, you might even want to tailor it to fit that site.

What time will our photo session be?

The most magical light for photography happens during the "golden hour," which is why I schedule most sessions either early in the morning or during the last two hours of daylight. Certain locations are better suited for certain times of day, we can discuss location and time during the session-planning call.

What if it's raining?

If the weather is less than ideal, we can definitely reschedule.
