Giving Back
This work is rooted in connection—but also in creating visibility for dogs still waiting to be seen.
Not every dog begins life in a place of safety.
Not every story starts with love.
Some begin in uncertainty.
In waiting. In silence.
And yet… even there, they love anyway.
Why this matters to me
Giving back to help save lives
Long before I photograph dogs, I meet them.
The shy ones who aren’t sure yet.
The resilient ones who still wag their tails.
The seniors who quietly hope for one more chance.
I’ve seen what happens when a dog is truly seen—not just as a rescue…
but as a soul worth knowing.
And everything changes.
Through ongoing work with rescue organizations, I’ve seen firsthand how the right image can change a dog’s future.

Photography with a purpose
A portion of my work is dedicated to supporting rescue organizations and the dogs still waiting for their person.
Through portrait sessions, collaborative projects, and fundraising initiatives, I use photography as a way to:
-
help dogs get noticed
-
tell their stories with dignity
-
create connection before they ever meet their future family
Because sometimes… one image is all it takes.
Nala

Soft, gentle, and full of life.
Carries a playful spirit that never seems to run out.
Always ready to be close… to love, and be loved in return.
The kind of presence that makes everything feel a little lighter. Now exactly where she belongs—home. 🤍
Scarlett

Preferred warmth over chaos.
Moved gently through the world while her body healed.
Found comfort in quiet moments… and the people she learned to trust.
All she ever needed was patience, kindness, and time. Now safe, loved, and home. 🤍
Bullet

Carried a story no dog ever should.
Yet never let it define him.
Met the world with softness… with trust… with a quiet kind of courage.
A heart that remained open, even when it had every reason not to.
The kind of spirit that reminds you healing is possible. 🤍
And so many more...

This work is not just about storytelling – it's about creating real opportunities for dogs still waiting.
How I partner with rescue organizations
I partner with rescue organizations to create imagery that helps dogs be seen, felt, and chosen.
This can include:
-
Portrait sessions for adoptable dogs
Thoughtfully created imagery designed to help each dog stand out and form an emotional connection with potential adopters. -
Story-driven features
Pairing imagery with narrative to share each dog’s story in a way that feels deeply human and genuinely felt. -
Fundraising collaborations
Participating in meaningful projects and initiatives that raise both awareness and financial support for rescue efforts. -
Ongoing creative partnership
Providing imagery that aligns with your mission and elevates how your dogs are seen and remembered.
My work with rescue organizations is offered at no cost.
When images are shared, I simply ask to be credited—whether through tagging my social channels or linking to my website—helping these stories reach further and allowing more people to connect with the dogs who need it most.
This simple act of sharing helps extend the reach of each story—and allows me to continue offering this work to other rescues.

Organizations I support
I'm proud to support organizations dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming.

Thank you for the work you do –
for the dogs who need it most. 🤍

Shannon volunteers her talents to showcase Montana Pittie Project rescue dogs, she works tirelessly donating her time and her amazing editing and promotional skills.
She has been instrumental in helping MPP reach more forever homes for our pups. Shannon’s talent in her beautiful photography is only eclipsed by her tremendously big heart for the dogs we hold so dear.
Thank you Shannon!

Great Pyrenees Rescue Montana had the pleasure of encountering Shannon at PetFest in Missoula. From that meeting forward the incredible photographer Shannon Edney has enriched the lives of many of our rescue dogs.
She first took outstanding individual photos for our website and Facebook, then she took it upon herself to create a gorgeous calendar multiple years running, featuring many of those dogs. To top that off she allowed us to market the calendars with all proceeds being donated to our rescue!
Shannon’s love for animals is apparent in the caring work that she does to present them at their best. We are so very thankful for Shannon, her work and her generosity.

Shannon has been such a joy to work with~! She has elevated our efforts to get our rescue dogs seen on social media to a wider audience, while offering new ways to have quality products to add to our fundraising events that help our dogs in need.
She efficiently captures their beauty, intelligence, and personalities. Which has aided our adoptions greatly.
Thank you~!
