One year of love, growth, and unforgettable moments

🎉 12 months of Pixel! 🐾

A full year of love, laughter, adventure, and puppy magic.

This post is a celebration of Pixel’s first year of life — one photograph and one memory at a time — leading all the way to her first birthday. Looking back, I’m reminded how quickly time moves… and how deeply one small soul can change your world.

The Beginning — Month 1

Welcome to the world, Pixel.

The tiniest ball of fluff with the biggest presence.

From the moment I first saw her, Pixel claimed space in my heart — even though bringing home a puppy wasn’t part of the plan. We were preparing for an out-of-state move, the litter was spoken for, and logic said not now.

But Pixel had other ideas.

She stayed on my mind constantly. Sometimes the dogs meant to find us don’t ask permission — they simply arrive.

The Decision — Month 2

Sometimes, the dog chooses you.

At six weeks old, I photographed Pixel’s litter — and somehow, amidst all the adorable chaos, she chose me. While I lay on the ground photographing puppies, she repeatedly ran straight toward me, flopped onto her back for belly rubs, and climbed into my arms as if we’d always belonged together.

When her breeder called while we were en route from Montana to Idaho to say a spot had opened in the litter, the decision was instant.

Pixel was coming home.

Bringing Pixel Home — Month 3

Pixel arrived with confidence, curiosity, and the sweetest soul — a testament to the beautiful foundation her breeder gave her. She settled in seamlessly, mastered potty training with ease, and filled our home with joy from day one.

Favorite things this month:

  • Her soccer ball (future all-star)

  • A Himalayan chew (because snacks matter)

  • The stuffed bunny sent home with her — her first comfort

Life without her already felt unimaginable.

Month 4 – All legs, no coordination

At four months, Pixel entered her “awkward growth” era — long legs, boundless energy, and nonstop puppy parkour. Her ears finally made their decision, her eyes sparkled with mischief, and the zoomies were… impressive.

Growing up has never looked cuter.

Month 5 – Master of the Head Tilt

By month five, Pixel had perfected the art of puppy persuasion.

Those eyes. That tilt. The timing. Impeccable.

Whether playing fetch, flashing her signature grin, or curling up for snuggles, she knew exactly how to steal hearts — and she absolutely knew it.

Month 6 – Puppy Class Prodigy

Halfway to one, and already showing off her brilliance. Pixel excelled in puppy class, soaking up every lesson with ease. Recall? Nailed it. New skills? Loved them.

Smart, eager, and adorable — a dangerous combination.

Month 7 – Teenage phase unlocked

Seven months brought more fluff, more confidence, and just a hint of sass. Pixel loved long walks with her bestie Penny, preferred calm dog friends, and balanced playtime with epic naps.

Every day with her felt like a gift.

Month 8 – Adventure buddy for life

By eight months, Pixel was officially my sidekick. Wherever I went, she followed — curious, joyful, and always ready. Wrapped in a winter scarf and framed by snowy walks, she completely owned my heart.

Month 9 – Pixel’s First Christmas

Lights. Wrapping paper. New toys.

Pure magic.

Pixel learned very quickly that gift bags held surprises — and she was more than willing to help unwrap them. Christmas with her was loud, joyful, and unforgettable.

She truly is the greatest gift.

Month 10 – My shining star

At ten months, Pixel became a natural in front of the camera — expressive, confident, and magnetic. Mornings still began with zoomies, fetch required dramatic leaps, and snow days were absolute bliss.

She filled every frame — and every day — with light.

Month 11 – Almost there

Nearly one year old, Pixel remained playful, affectionate, and endlessly curious. One of my most treasured moments this month was photographing her on a frozen lake — a quiet, breathtaking reminder of how fleeting and beautiful this season of life is.

These are the moments I’ll carry forever.

🐾🎉🎂 MARCH 1st: Happy 1st Birthday, Pixel! 🎉🎂🐾

And just like that… she’s one.

From the tiniest fluffball to my wild, wonderful adventure partner, Pixel has made every single day brighter. Her pupday party was complete with a crown, special treats, and so much love — because of course it was.

Happy first birthday, sweet girl.

Here’s to many more adventures, snuggles, stories, and portraits yet to be made. 💕
